Dr. Volker Latussek wrote about it:

“The idea of combining my CABRIO sliding box with EUKLID-typical pieces came as a surprise to me. Obviously, I don’t work through ideas systematically, but rather let myself be surprised. Personally, I find these surprising moments very reassuring. A bit of freedom. It turns out I don’t have to force myself to provoke new ideas. I hope I will continue to be surprised by what pops into my mind for a long time to come.

In fact, the thought of a convertible for Euclid sparked my curiosity about the possibilities the sliding box would provide. My EUKLIDs only know cuboids – these simplest convex shapes which cannot interlock, are somehow very difficult to tame. It quickly became clear that there should be six pieces, assembled in a way that an apparently complete cube can be put together. It was quite a challenge to translate these simple parts into a unique sequence of movements. Nevertheless, it was a good time. I learned a lot again and I am confident that I will be surprised again by a new idea for this incredibly exciting sliding box. I have to thank Hajime Katsumoto once again for bringing this sliding box into the puzzle world with his SLIDE PACKING.

I strongly recommend that the tinkerers of EUKLID’S CABRIO discover the sequence of movements on the solution path outside the sliding box and practice it in reverse order. It’s best to take notes, especially about the position of the lid in each solution step. Otherwise, you’ll have to saw through Pelikan’s beautifully crafted sliding box, not because something is stuck, but simply because you have forgotten how to arrange the parts in each step so that the last part can be freed from the sliding box. Now please enjoy your time with EUKLID’S CABRIO.”
