Cross Imprisoned

by Stephane Chomine

It measures 60 mm x 60 mm x 60 mm.

We used American Walnut, Maple, Purpleheart and brass pins in production of this puzzle.

Kevin Sadler wrote about it:

“A very unusual design reminiscent of Tom Jolly’s 2 piece oddity. It consists of a lovely 3D cross piece made from Purpleheart imprisoned in a cage but unlike the oddity the cage is formed from 4 boards which interlock. The exterior of the boards are made from Walnut whilst the interior is maple making for an unusual contrasting appearance in the centre of the puzzle. The board pieces have been beautifully reinforced with brass pins. This puzzle is very difficult at level 42.3.6.7 with the boards gradually disentangling and the cross moving back and forth to get out of the way. At the 41st move it splits in two and then the pieces come apart. The dance is mesmerising in complexity.”
